Flaming Idols are altar candles featuring inspiring figures of the LGBTQ community, created and handmade by Philadelphia artist and activist Robin Markle.
Amandla first rose to fame for their role as Rue in The Hunger Games. They’ve used their celebrity both on and off screen to amplify calls for racial justice, including their viral video against cultural appropriation, Don't Cash Crop On My Cornrows. Amandla came out as bi at 17 and later as gay. They also identify as non-binary and say, “Could my ideas about who I am and my sexuality and gender shift in the future? Very much so. It’s very likely that it could. And I think that’s O.K.”
You might light this candle and look to Amandla for inspiration and guidance in: Speaking up for your culture, advocating to get a job, being strategic with your social media use
Each unscented soy wax candle burns for approximately 10 hrs. Glass votives are 2.5" high and 2" wide at the base.
